Chanukah - Days of Light

Chanukah is an eight-day holiday enaqcted by the Sages. It commemorates the
rededication of the second Holy Temple in Jerusalem during the Maccabean
Revolt against the Seleucid Empire of the 2nd century BCE. Under the reign of
Antiochus, Jewish ritual was outlawed and an altar of a Greek god was erected in the
Temple. A Jewish revolt ensued under the leadership of the Judah the Maccabee which resulted in their victory and rededication of the Temple to Divine service. We celebrate  Chanukah by kindling the Menorah, eating festive foods and giving praise and thanks to  the Creator
